Time for this week’s recipe.  For the holiday, I’m sure that there will be a ton of grilling out there.  Throw some of these on the grill this weekend.  Guaranteed to be a hit.  Burgers loaded with flavor.  Fix this as is or as another option, make them blackened style.  Either way, give it a try.

  • 8 slices hickory smoked bacon
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1 pound ground sirloin
  • 4 toasted onion rolls
  • condiments of choice
  • baby field greens or other greens, if desired


Pan fry or microwave the bacon until crisp.  Drain on paper towels.  Coarsely chop and set aside.

Crumble the beef in a bowl and the cheese and the bacon.  Mix well to ensure that the cheese and bacon are evenly distributed.  Divide the meat into 4 equal portions and make 3/4 inch thick patties.  Season with salt and pepper.

Place the burgers on a hot grill and cook 3 to 5 minutes on each side or until cooked to personal preference.

Serve on toasted onion rolls with condiments of choice of greens.  Makes 4 servings.
